Hey! I’m Stephanie.

Hey! I’m Stephanie.

I’m Stephanie Fazio (aka Lealou*), Culinary Nutrition Expert, cooking instructor, and freelance writer.

I have a passion for food. Real food.

Like many children of the ’80s I grew up eating a lot of processed junk food.

My favourite foods as a teenager were Doritos and penny sour candies and I could polish off a bag of deep-fried fish and chips like no body’s business.

It wasn’t until I got to university that my tastes started to change and I realized what real food is: whole grains, vegetables, fewer ingredients.

I was blessed to live in a residence that didn’t have a meal plan, so I made my own food and instead of gaining the Frosh 15, I lost 20 pounds almost instantly.

Fast forward several years to when my son was born: he had severe eczema on his face and I did everything I could to figure out what was causing it.

I was nursing him so I changed my diet removing dairy and gluten and after a lot of trial and error, we realized he has a sensitivity to cow milk.

I learned so much about food during that process that I developed a passion for eating real food and planning meals that nourish the body.

In 2016 I completed my certification as a Culinary Nutrition Expert and I’m excited to combine it with my journalism degree from Ryerson University to educate others on the value of real food and what it can do for our bodies and our well-being.

I also have a passion for meal planning and teach my clients how to plan nourishing meals for their families every week so they can pave the road toward feeling their best. Life is as busy as ever, but I truly believe we can still eat well on a daily basis; we just need a bit of planning to do it!

Whether it’s creating custom healthy family meal plans, or hosting a workshop or virtual cooking class, I’d love to work with you on your healthy family food adventures.

Check out my services and contact me for more information, or head on over to shop my simple meal plans to get started right away.

*Wonder what’s with the Lealou nickname? I used to be a huge Bruce Willis fan back in the day and my favourite movie of all time is The Fifth Element. Have you seen it? The main character is Leeloo! I changed the spelling and adopted it as my nickname.

Nope. 😭 Nope. 😭
The hubs has been very diligent about getting out The hubs has been very diligent about getting out for his steps and most time it’s at night. It takes more of an effort for me, but when I go it’s magical especially in the snow with all of the lights. Plus we get the added benefit of fresh air before bed. I highly recommend it!

There ‘s a lot you can do to stay healthy in this There ‘s a lot you can do to stay healthy in this super sick season.

As much as possible eat whole foods. I have teens so you know… this isn’t always in my control but do what you can at home.

Wash your hands! You don’t need antibacterial soap… just regular soap will do the trick.

Keep up with vitamins and minerals. Lemon water with a bit of salt first think in the morning and teas throughout the day.

My kids take the first few supplements every day and the last few when they feel something coming on.

I’m a huge fan of lemon ginger buckwheat honey tea when sick. Buckwheat works well on coughs!

Eat a big breakfast, go to bed early, get outside and get some exercise. When you’re sick go outside for fresh air.

There’s more weirdo stuff I can tell you about but this is a great start.

(I really hope I don’t jinx our family with this post! 🤪).

P.S. I’m not a doctor. I’m simply telling you what has worked for my family for years.
